Putting new shoes on local students one foot at a time. Sound impossible? Not to the members of the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Wichita.
The goal is simple. Put new shoes on the feet of elementary students who need them most. Today, it's the students of Colvin Elementary in Wichita. And, for most of these kids, it's like Christmas Day.
The excitement starts building for students in October. That's when over 1,400 feet at area schools are sized up for a new pair of shoes. Along with the new shoes, the group of Colvin students each got a new pair of socks.
This is the fifth year of a team effort on behalf of the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Wichita. Payless Shoes, Papa John's Pizza, and Hatman Jacks are also on board. The goal is simple, provide something every kid needs at a time when they need it most.
Monday, it was the kids at Colvin Elementary. Tomorrow, students at other area schools will get a new pair of shoes for free. Some will also get free sweatshirts.
So far this year, the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Wichita will be providing over 1,400 pairs of shoes and 450 sweatshirts to area school kids.
