Pheasant and quail season are set to begin bright and early Saturday morning. Both are big tourist attractions and moneymakers for the state.
Hunters are expected to have a good season as weather conditions have been favorable for bird breeding across Kansas. As word spreads about pheasant numbers being up, more and more hunting licenses are being sold.
Many first-timers as well as veteran hunters will fly in from across the nation for opening weekend.
Kansas Wildlife and Parks says many hunters have had lodging booked as much as a year in advance for the pheasant and quail in Kansas, news that’s good for the economy.
