It's being called "amazing," "unbelievable," even "miraculous." A new nail polish that doesn't chip or smudge and lasts two weeks.
All right ladies. How many of you paint your nails or spend $20 or $30 on a manicure just to find the next day the polish is chipped or even ruined within hours? Well, now there's a new polish that is guaranteed to last at least two weeks.
Many women spend hours and hundreds of dollars week after week, year after year, to have well-cared for hands and feet. "I make sure I schedule a manicure every week, " Wichitan Gayle Malone said. "And, I would break a nail every now and then."
Gayle Malone is one of those women who want their hands sporting that "just manicured" look. She would faithfully get her nails done every week, applying a top coat every night hoping to keep her nails shiny with that freshly done look.
"On regular usage I would get a chip every two or three days, or it would be dull looking," Malone said. But, Gayle, like women all over the country has discovered a new product called Shellac. A soak-off hybrid between a gel and a polish that is guaranteed to last at least two weeks.
"It's wonderful. My nails always look like I had a manicure, and it frees up my time," Malone said. It works much like a regular polish. A base coat, the color, then a top coat. But after each layer, the customer puts her hand or toes under ultraviolet light for a short time. The polish dries instantly.
"With the Shellac, when you get a pedicure you can put your shoes back on and walk out to your car. You don't have to worry about walking out into the snow with flip flops on," Malone said.
Beau Monde Spa and Boutique in Wichita is one of 2000 salons to carry the product that came out last spring. Right now, Shellac offers 12 colors with more coming out next month.
