There's a lot on our minds as parents right now with the recent school shooting - and many kids are already on Christmas break. You may not want to them to watch too much of the news coverage of the shootings - so we have some tips on keeping them busy and having some fun this holiday break.

According to about.com, here are some tips:

1. Bake
From toddlers to teenagers, kids love the mixing and the measuring - but most of all, they love the treats at the end.

2. Put on a talent show
This is an activity with so many possibilities! And it's great for all ages, including the grown ups.

3. Decorate
No one is as enthusiastic about holiday decorating than kids! They throw themselves into it with an energy most adults just don't have this time of year.

4. Make gifts
Homemade gifts are a kid specialty.

5. Join in local holiday events
Drive through the lighting displays around town. Here in wichita we have Lights on the Lake at Heartspring, and Lights on St. Paul
near Douglas and St. Paul Street.
