A Hutchinson man is arrested for aggravated battery after a two-year-old child suffers serious head injuries.
Hutchinson Police responded to 910 E. Sherman Monday to reports the child was suffering from a medical condition. EMS rushed the child to Promise Regional Medical Center, then transported the two-year-old to Via Christi on St. Francis in Wichita.
At the hospital, doctors determined the toddler was suffering from head injuries, launching an investigation. According to Reno County District Attorney Keith Schroeder, the child is paralyzed on the right side and has to have a feeding tube. They are still doing testing to see if her condition will improve with time.
Thursday, police arrested Toby Hippen for aggravated battery. Investigators say they believe he is responsible for the child's injuries.
Toby Hippen is the brother of Brigit Hippen who is facing murder charges in connection to the death of her infant daughter. Last year, Brigit Hippen was accused of using a hair dryer to keep her child warm.
The child remains in serious condition in Via Christi's pediatric ICU.
