Copper, metal, even a pair of guns: all things that have disappeared in a string of burglaries in Reno county.
Reno county detectives say they received a tip that Kendall Kirkwood was committing burglaries in the county and in Hutchinson. They say that tip helped put them in the right place at the right time to catch him in the act.
Detectives say they spotted Kirkwood Friday, leaving a house they know is unoccupied. They pulled him over.
They say Kirkwood had a lot of things in the back of his truck including a bundle of electrical wire:
“Like it had been cut down,” Detectives Shawn McClay said.
Detective Shawn McClay says they found out the wire came from the home's garage.
"There was actually a car in there and you could see footprints on the car when he had went in and was cutting down the wire,” Detective McClay said.
Detective McClay says so far, they've connected Kirkwood to several burglaries.
As they continue their investigation, detectives expect to bring more burglary and theft charges against Kirkwood. They also say they don't think he's been working alone and hope to make another arrest soon.
