Walmart's promise to donate $1.5 million to agencies that fight hunger across the nation could benefit the Kansas Food Bank.
The retail giant is holding a challenge through Facebook to determine the communities that need the money most.
Facebook users are being asked to support the food banks in their local communities. The food bank in the winning community will receive $1 million. The next top five communities will each win $100,000. Currently the Kansas Food Bank in Wichita is sitting in the #5 position.
Debi Kreutzman with the Kansas Food Bank says, "We have 136 Kansans each week we help provide part of a meal for. That $100,000 could help extend those meals."
The contest ends on December 31st at 6pm Central Time.
