Six years after Erika and Justin Cole ran track at Wichita State University, they became husband and wife on Valentine's Day.
"I thought that was a pretty good idea. I hadn't really planned on that at the beginning but two birds with one stone. Valentine's and our anniversary from now on, seemed like a good day," said Justin Cole.
Sedgwick County court rooms were filled up friends and families of these couples. One judge was busy officiating five ceremonies today but said he enjoyed these events.
"Doing weddings and adoptions is the best part. We see a lot of things that aren't so much fun and so obviously doing weddings is a good time. It's a lot of fun," said Judge Warren Wilbert, Sedgwick County District Court.
Others wanted to make Feb. 14 have triple the significance - holiday, engagement, and wedding day.
"It was both of our idea. Well, the judge had an opening. He had an opening. We called. So, we just did it. It just kind of happened and it worked," said Melody and Chris Zimmerman, who got engaged last Valentine's Day.
Although the weddings seemed simple, the most important thing these couple walked away with was the chance to start their new lives together.
"I think the gravity of them kind of sank in and thinking about spending the rest of my life with her," said Justin Cole.
