To celebrate the explorer's arrival in the New World, school children everywhere learn that "in 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue."
First graders in Mrs. Steenbock's class at Allen Elementary were eager to say the names of the three ships that sailed the Atlantic Ocean with Columbus in 1492.
"Onion...Pinta Hall...Santa Bodian."
These were just a few of the variations we got for the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. These three ships left Spain and landed in San Salvador. The assignment for today was to write down what they would bring if they were to go on their own voyage.
"I'm going to take cheese so I can eat food," and "I would take my trophy."
