An 8-year-old from Andover raises $1,500 to buy a chocolate grinding machine for a small mother's group in Guatemala.

Liberty Sementelli was motivated to take action after her mother met the women during a mission trip to Guatemala.

"Women in Guatemala don't have many rights. They struggled every single day," said Christine Sementelli, Liberty's mother. "To see them come together to start a company that would support their families was just overwhelming in a sense."

For a year, Liberty did small chores and jobs to raise the money for the machine. She also helped neighbors water plants and fold clothes.

"Instead of getting presents for my seventh birthday, I asked for 10 dollars instead of a gift," said Liberty Sementelli, who visited the women this summer.

The Christian Foundation for Children and Aging helped connect the family with the women.
