A job fair was hosted Monday in Wichita by jobnews.com, an internet site for job searching whose leaders say there are reasons for job seekers to be optimistic.
“I would definitely say we’re starting to see a change and that more and more positions are becoming available,” Darrel Bowlin, Regional Vice President of jobs.com said.
As the national unemployment rate continues to climb, with some predictions showing it will pass 10%, many hopefuls turned out for today’s job fair.
Sandra Lierz was the director of an assisted living center in Wellington. She’s finding it difficult to find a similar management position in the Wichita area.
“Right now, I’m just open to getting my foot in the door at an entry level position, so that perhaps I can work my way back up to that director position,” Leirz said.
Bowlin says there are jobs available, though maybe not in the same field some have been working, but work nonetheless.
