Hillsboro police have arrested two teenagers in connection with a rash of business break-ins that began in October. In the last two months, authorities say more than 25 businesses have been hit.
Hillsboro Police Chief Dan Kinning says a 17-year-old and 19-year-old have been arrested and could face up to 30 felony charges each. One of the businesses sustained more than $1,000 in damages. Kinning says the culprits were mostly after cash.
A third juvenile is also under investigation for a possible role in the break-ins, but has not been arrested.
Kinning says the arrests were made after police set up surveillance at a business that had not been hit. Kinning says the teenagers were caught in the act over the weekend.
