Layoff notices are being issued today at Cessna aircraft facilities in Wichita and Bend, Oregon.

The 60-day WARN notices were sent out today. The exact numbers of notices being delivered today isn't known. Last month, Cessna announced it would layoff 500 in Wichita and 165 at its Bend, Oregon plant because the company wouldn't produce as many planes next year as originally planned.

The affected employees now know they'll have 60 days before losing their jobs. A company spokesman says the number of contract employees is being reduced.
