Sedgwick County leaders are pushing to 'go green' at a cost of $1.3 million. An independent contractor says he can guarantee the county will get a return on its investment within 6 years if it goes with his plan.

The proposal would mean an ozone laundry system installed in jail, new water efficient toilets and showers. All 73 county buildings would benefit with energy efficient lighting and programable thermostats.
"Where we can identify the cost savings and get a return on our investment, it's a smart thing to do," said commission chair Dave Unruh.

Sedgwick County Commissioners are expected to vote on the plan on Wednesday.
