A deadly stabbing may have started with an argument over a woman. Police released new information Monday after a man was found bleeding at a west Wichita gas station early Saturday morning.
"I came out, saw the cops were out, saw blood. I said, 'What happened?,' and she said somebody got stabbed," said James Sparks, who lives with his girlfriend in the apartment above where police say the stabbing happened.
Sparks and his girlfriend have spent time with 20-year-old Catherine Collins, the woman investigators say is responsible for murder.
"She's got a lot of people that go in and out of her home," said Sparks.
Witnesses tell police Collins was arguing with 20-year-old Boston Sicard when she stabbed him. That's when he made his way to a nearby gas station at Central and Ridge, leaving a trail of blood. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after.
"Basically they were discussing a separate female. There is not a domestic relationship between the two, the suspect and the victim," said Wichita Police Lt. Ken Landwehr.
After a passerby found Sicard and called police, officers traced the trail of blood back to the apartment and began looking for the woman who lived there.
"She later drove back to the apartment, parked just next to her apartment and turned herself in," said Landwehr.
Now she's behind bars for second degree reckless murder, as the people who lived above her continue to wonder exactly what happened.
"It takes a lot to push somebody to that edge, it really does. So I mean something must have happened for her to snap," said Sparks.
Wichita police arrested a 20 year-old woman for second degree murder shortly after finding 20 year-old Boston Sicard bleeding to death in a parking lot near Central and Ridge early Saturday morning.
Police say the woman and Sicard were arguing about a woman at a nearby apartment complex earlier in the evening. Sicard and the suspect had gone out to local clubs earlier in the evening.
Sicard was stabbed multiple times. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
