Local students recently took part in an out of this world field trip.
The Wichita Collegiate fifth graders participated in a mission to Mars as a class project. The mission includes the Orion space capsule, which is large enough to house five astronauts.
Collegiate science teacher Gidget Watson said one of the things she hopes students get out of the exercise is the desire to major in the sciences.
