Update
A pathologist has determined two people pulled from a car found in the Arkansas River last week died as a result of drowning.
The crash was discovered along 322nd Rd. where it ends at the Arkansas River Friday morning.
The two were identified as 26-year-old Cortney Christine Brewer, of Arkansas City, and 31-year-old Jason Wayne Patterson, also of Arkansas City.
Toxicology results will not be available for several weeks.
The bodies were found in a partially submerged silver 1999 Chevy Blazer. Investigators say they believe the two were victims of a car accident based on the pattern of the tire tracks leading up to the edge of the river.
Neither person was believed to be wearing a seat belt. Sheriff Don Read says there is no indication of foul play, but that the incident appears to have been simply an accident.

Two bodies have been pulled from the Arkansas River in Cowley County.
Cowley County authorities say two bodies were found in a vehicle that was partially submerged in the river along 322nd Rd. southeast of Arkansas City.
In a news release, Cowley County Sheriff Don read said a person reported what he thought was an unocuppied vehicle in the river at 9:17 a.m. A backhoe was used to pull the vehicle out of the water. The bodies were discovered inside.
Investigators said evidence at the scene indicate this is a traffic accident. There were some braking skid marks that stop at the river's edge.
The victims, a man and a woman, have not been identified.
