Tag Offices Statewide Experiencing Technical Difficulties

Friday, March 1, 2013

Tag offices in Kansas are experiencing technical difficulties with the state's computer system this morning. The tag offices are still open today.

Jeannine Koranda, spokesperson for the Kansas Department of Revenue said, "What we're seeing right now is a system slowdown. We're working with 3M to correct it as quickly as possible. They're still working on figuring out what's exactly causing it."

Sedgwick County Treasurer Linda Kizzire said it is taking numerous times to finalize a single transaction.

Last May, Kansas driver's license and county tag offices got a $22 million computer system upgrade. After the installation, there were some problems that caused delays in completing transactions.

Driver licensing offices are not yet on the new system. They are running on the same system they have been for almost 20 years.

Koranda advises people to renew tags via mail or online, by clicking here.
