Bargain hunters hoped that last minute shopping would help them get even better deals on gifts for others.
"Kind of like the last minute shopper, especially with little kids and not having a whole lot of time, and it's the thrill of the last minute deal finding shop," said Chrissy Williams, shopper.
Other last minute shoppers wanted to fill stocking with smaller and unique gifts for loved ones.
"I've got the big gifts already taken care of, had those shortly after Thanksgiving, but the stocking stuffers, I don't know why I always leave that to the last," said Mark Reed, shopper.
Some shoppers said last minute shopping was part of a bigger strategy to be the best gift giver of the season.
"You get to know what everyone else in the family has already bought the family. You kind of exchange secrets and then you get what everybody else hasn't already gotten, so that your gift can be the best," said a shopper.
Although for sale signs were advertised at nearly every store at the mall, some shoppers preferred buying gift cards then buying the wrong present.
"Getting the gift card is me saying 'I know it's a little impersonal, but hey, at least you get what you want and not something that you know, I deem great for me, but horrible for you,'" said John Dao, shopper.
For those last minute shoppers, there is still time to buy presents before Christmas.
Many stores are open until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
