December’s lesser-known holiday is fast approaching: National Influenza Vaccination Week. To celebrate, the Sedgwick County Health Department is offering extended hours and free flu shots for uninsured residents during the week of December 6-10.
“I think a lot of people just assume that if they didn't get their shot in October or November, then it’s too late. But that’s not the case at all. Flu activity is only just beginning,” said Health Department Director Claudia Blackburn. “We hope our residents will take advantage of this opportunity.”
The 2716 West Central location will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from noon until 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Friday’s hours (8 to 11:30 a.m.) remain the same.
Also, throughout the week, families with children age two through 11 will receive a free gift with vaccination.
