A man with a history of mental issues is accused of stabbing his grandmother to death. Wichita Police released more information on the incident today.

Gertrude Lott, 69, was stabbed to death while she sat in her home in the 3100 block of East Stadium Drive Thursday. Police said Lott was stabbed several times with multiple instruments.

The 22-year-old man who attacked Lott then placed a call to his father. The father arrived at the house, and police said the 22-year-old man then allegedly tried to attack the father as well.

The 22-year-old was treated for self inflicted wounds and later arrested. He lived in the home with Lott and his brother. His brother was attending classes at Wichita State University at the time of the attack.
