The Golf Warehouse held a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning for the new distribution facility in Wichita.
"It's been great to be able to create jobs here in Wichita. What we did was, brought some business from another state and instantly within three months, we've been able to add dozens of jobs," said Brad Wolansky, chief executive officer of The Golf Warehouse.
The company consolidated their distribution facilities from two, in Indianapolis and Wichita, into one large facility in northeast Wichita.
"We service the entire country. We also ship internationally. What it means is that Wichita has a world class enterprise level dot-com right here in its midst," said Wolansky.
In the last 13 years, the company has expanded their product line to include baseball, softball, and soccer. In January, they plan to add tennis to the mix.
"They're diversifying their product line and we're looking at opportunities to diversify our economy and what we have. This is something that's very exciting for the city of Wichita and also for the state of Kansas," said Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer.
The Golf Warehouse added several dozen new employees during the expansion. They plan to hire dozens more over the next five years.
"Kansas is an entrepreneurial state and this is a great example of how we can grow and thrive in a very difficult economy. Governor Brownback and I feel that jobs are our first priority," said Lieutenant Governor Jeff Colyer.
Company leaders said serving their customers and focusing on them has helped sales go up and growth to continue happening.
"We've got some room to grow here. We have some head room in this facility. It will be one sport at a time," said Wolansky.
The company operates tgw.com, baseballsavings.com, softballsavings.com, and soccersavings.com.
