A tornado destroyed the Guthrie, OK, animal shelter, leaving more than 60 animals stranded. Amazingly, none of the animals were killed, but it's clear they went through a traumatizing experience.
"We think this one went airborne," said Scotlund Haisley, President of the Animal Rescue Corps. "Her cage was in the cat room clear across from where she should have been.
Haisley was holding a small brown Pomeranian that appeared very skittish.
In Wichita, Humane Society spokesperson Jennifer Campbell says the animals will be checked out over the next couple of days to make sure they're healthy enough to adopt out to families.
They were already considered adoptable by Guthrie's shelter, but Campbell says some of them may not recover from the trauma of the tornado.
