Wichita city staff outlined rules for using tax dollars for downtown development.
The hope is that the rules will help define exactly what your money will be used for. The plan was presented to the city council during a staff meeting Tuesday morning.
Developers must meet certain criteria to qualify. Their plans will be based on a 100 point system. The developers must show they have financial backing and their idea will have public interest.
Many tax incentives could be used to help with infrastructure and to build parking lots in the area.
City staff and members of the Wichita Downtown Development Corp. came up with the proposal.
The city council is expected to vote on the proposal in May.
