As day two of extreme makeover magic comes to a close, Carl Hall and his family are already getting new surprises they didn't see coming. Like the one at halftime of tonight's Shocker basketball game.
Carl made his name on the baseball team, but tonight the Hall's were guests of the Wichita State Shocker Basketball team,
"It's been a wild ride and it's not over yet," Hall said Friday evening.
As the Halls enjoyed the game on the sidelines, they had no idea what was about to happen. During halftime, Carl and his wife and family were asked to go to center court.
"Tonight, you're being inducted into the Pizza Hut Shocker Hall of Fame," said one of the show's producers.
The crowd burst into cheers and applause, but that wasn't all. The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition crew and WSU also surprised the Halls with complete four year scholarships to attend school. Something that would have been impossible to pay for considering the hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills they will have to pay for the rest of Carl's life.
"That opens up so many doors for all four of us," said Megan Hall, Carl's daughter. "We can do whatever we want to do with that... be whatever we want to be."
"That's a burden that every parent has to bear and in our position and my situation, it would be impossible to afford that," Carl Hall said with a tear running down his eye.
And standing out on the court in front of all of those gracious people was an experience the Hall kids will always remember.
"All these people care about my dad. It just means a lot," Megan said.
Only two days into the build, Carl admits that he is tired.
"I'm exhausted already, but every day there's something new and something exciting going on," said Carl.
Coming up tomorrow, the Halls will be whisked away to Florida until Friday. Among other things, the kids will get to spend a lot of time at Disney World. The "move that bus" moment will be next Friday.
