Sedgwick County Sheriff's investigators have had 38 reported burglaries since Dec. 16 and eight have been in the north parts of the county.

"The biggest concern is they're hitting multiple houses in an area, [during the] daytime, not knowing if the farmers or ranchers are home," Capt. Greg Pollock.

One victim near Hoover and 77th St. N., west of Valley Center, said his home was burglarized on Jan. 14. He said a burglar broke a back window and took about $3,500 worth of electronics.

"After my neighbor being broken into, I feel like, 'Oh, I better lock my door,'" said Mike Boehmer, neighbor.

Investigators have also seen a cluster of burglaries in the south parts of the county near Haysville and Mulvane.

Pollock said one victim reported having multiple guns taken during a burglary in South Sedgwick County.

"That alarms us that we do have a large number of handguns that are now been stolen and are out on the streets," said Pollock.
