The Buhler High School Crusaders have not won a state championship in football since the school opened its doors to students in 1915.

"This was our dream to go to state," said Dakota Wolf, junior.

Wolf is following in his father's footsteps, but hopes it will be a little different.

His father was on the football team in 1990, the last time Buhler made it to the state championship game.

"Here we are going to state. My dad was on the same spot. It was a pretty neat deal. I just know we're going to go get the W," said Wolf.

The team's head football coach complimented his players. He said the team works hard both on and off the field, so they are prepared for the game tomorrow.

"We've been close the last five years and we finally broke the door to get to the championship. Now we want to win it," said Steve Warner, head football coach.

Warner said the game will be no different than the 13 games they have played. Their record so far has been 12-1.

"We're going to take it as business as usual," said Warner. "We don't want the kids to be too hyped. we want them to be ready to play football just like they've been doing all year long."

The team will load the bus at 9:10 a.m. and will drive by fans along Main Street in Buhler.

The Buhler High School Crusaders will play against the Coffeyville-Field Kindley High School Golden Tornado team for the 4-A State Championship on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Salina.
