In the new economy, more Kansans are turning to that tried and true method of making ends meet. So far this year, the number of garage sales have increased significantly, and that's a trend expected to grow even more this summer.
The Wichita Eagle is noticing a huge increase in the number of people advertising garage sales locally this spring in comparison to last year's numbers. In fact, it's been busy enough at the newspaper that some clerks have worked late a few nights in the garage sale ad department.
While it can't be said with certainty the increase in ads is linked to the down economy, those holding garage sales and those shopping these sales think the economy is a key reason more garage sales are being held.
