A groundbreaking ceremony was held this morning at the site of the Warren IMAX theater.
The theater will be built at the Warren Theater West at 21st and Tyler. The Wichita City Council approved $16 million in industrial revenue bonds to build a state of the art IMAX theater. Bill Warren agreed to make payments on the value of the property in lieu of taxes over the next ten years, with a 2.3 percent increase each year.
The IMAX will have 600 seats, a six story tall screen and all the digital enhancements.
The theater is scheduled to open December 17th. "Tron" will be the first film shown.
