TOPEKA (AP) -- The names of three Kansas peace officers who died in the line of duty are being added to the state's law enforcement memorial.

Those being honored at a ceremony Friday include Kansas City Marshal A.A. Wilson, who was shot and killed in 1899 while trying to serve an arrest warrant for horse stealing.

Vernon Holzer was a Santa Fe Railroad special officer fatally shot in 1923 while guarding a train leaving Wichita for Arkansas City.

And Jimmie Allen Barnett was a Santa Fe Railroad special agent hit by a train near Wichita Union Station in 1975.

The memorial on the Statehouse grounds was dedicated in October 1986. It has 262 names, including the three being added Friday.
