A fire severely damages a a restaurant on west Wichita's west side overnight, and investigators are calling it arson.
Wichita Fire Marshal Ed Bricknell said a passerby noticed smoke coming from the Taco Shop restaurant at Central and West shortly before midnight.
Fire crews were notified. When they arrived at the burning restaurant, they discovered a fire in the kitchen. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 30 minutes.
During that time, Bricknell said Wichita Police blocked traffic to maintain easy access to the fire hydrant. The nearest one was across the street from the restaurant.
The fire caused $275,000 damage. Investigators are asking for anyone who was in the Central & West area from 11:30 to midnight and who may have seen something to call Crimestoppers at (316) 267-2111
