Wichita Police have been running surveillance missions in South Wichita trying to catch a man who possibly raped two women within a week of each other.
The first rape happened at 3:20 a.m. November 29th in the 900 block on W. 29th St South. A 39-year-old woman was walking to her car from her apartment when a man came up to her from behind, forced her into the car and sexually assaulted her.
Four days later, a 19-year-old woman was walking along the 3300 block of South Seneca at 4:20 a.m. when a man grabbed her from behind and raped her in a nearby parking lot.
Although there is no evidence link between the two rapes yet, police believe the same man is involved in both because the suspect description is the same and it happened in the same proximity.
Police have been intensifying their presence in the area hoping to find the suspected rapist but have not had any luck so far.
Police advice women against walking alone in the middle of the night.
Anyone with any information on the two rapes is asked to call police.
