A SPEEA council is authorizing a member vote seeking strike authorization power for teams negotiating with Boeing.
SPEEA sent out a press release last night that stated bargaining councils each voted unanimously in the authorization. A simple majority vote could give negotiation teams the authority to call a strike if necessary.
SPEEA stated the action comes after two days of non-productive and discouraging dialog with Boeing over issues such as wages, pensions and medical benefits.
Negotiations for the 700 engineers in Wichita is expected to start Monday. The contract expires Dec. 5.
