Firefighters were kept busy early this morning when a fire erupted at a home near downtown Wichita.
Shortly before 4 a.m., firefighters received a call of a house fire in the 700 Blk. of S. Sycamore. They originally couldn't find any flames, but soon found the fire shooting out of the basement.
Wichita Fire Marshal Ed Bricknell said the cause is likely from a floor furnace.
Damage to the house is substantial. No one was hurt, but a dog died in the fire.
