Update
A Reno County deputy remains in critical condition at a Wichita hospital after he was hurt in a crash Friday morning.
Deputy Mitchell A. Harris, 53, of Hutchinson, was responding to a non-injury accident involving a car that had collided with a deer. He was attempting a u-turn in his patrol car when it was struck by a pickup truck on the driver's side.
The accident happened after 6:00 a.m. on Kansas Highway 96, four miles east of Nickerson.
A passenger in the patrol car, Jordan Mullen of Hutchinson, went to Promise Regional Medical Center and is in fair condition, according to a hospital spokesman. Reno County authorities said Mullen is a civilian involved in the department's ride-along program.
Richard D. Fosnight, 53, of Hutchinson, was the driver of the pickup truck. He was treated at Promise Regional Medical Center and released.

A Reno County deputy was hurt in a crash this morning as he was responding to an accident. The accident happened after 6:00 a.m. on Kansas Highway 96, four miles east of Nickerson.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said Deputy Mitchell Harris, 53, arrived at the accident scene and was attempting a u-turn in his patrol car when it was struck on the driver's side by a pickup truck.
Deputy Harris was taken to Via Christi Health in Wichita for treatment. A passenger in the patrol car, Jordan Mullen of Hutchinson, went to Promise Regional Medical Center. Reno County authorities said Mullen is a civilian involved in the department's ride-along program.
The pickup driver, Richard Fosnight of Hutchinson also was taken to the Hutchinson hospital for treatment.
