Robin Thicke may be the only one who didn't mind Miley Cyrus' performance at the MTV VMAs. Thicke tweeted after performing with Cyrus, "that was dope." Cyrus stripped, twerked, did a Kiss impression with her tongue and in her own unique way, said "we're number one" with a foam finger.
The rest of the Twitterverse had a field day. One guy tweeted "I've decided we should stop fighting the terrorists, we don't deserve to win." Another worried if Cyrus felt OK because "a coating of white on the tongue is a sign of poor health." Country singer Josh Gracin tweeted "Thanks Miley Cyrus. Now I have to explain to my 11-year-old daughter why she no longer can follow your career."
Melissa Rycroft says she feels "slightly violated." But not Will Smith and his kids. The Huffington Post says the reaction shot that's gone viral was actually in response to Lady Gaga's performance and Willow's open mouth was caused by her chewing gum.
In all, Twitter says Cyrus was mentioned 4.5 million times, nearly two million more than Justin Timberlake. At one point Cyrus' performance was getting more than 306,000 tweets a minute.
