He can’t say he wasn’t warned.

Ben Affleck spoke with Jimmy Fallon last night on “Late Night” about his casting as Batman in the upcoming sequel to “Man of Steel” and admitted that the studio told him “don’t use the Internet for a couple days” after the announcement Aug. 22.

“I was like ‘I’m a big boy,’” Affleck told Fallon. “I handle s*** … I’m very tough.”

Execs even showed Affleck reactions to past castings of Batman.

“These things were like, ‘Kill Him!’” Affleck explained. ”You can’t say that before a movie comes out. It doesn’t matter what you think then, it matters what you think when you see the movie.”

But the father of three thought director Zack Snyder’s take on the Superman/Batman movie was so brilliant, he had to be involved.
Then came the announcement.

“I look down, the first comment … Just goes ‘Nooooooooo’” he said miming the no ran across the computer screen.

Twitter even had a trending hashtag the next day #BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck.

Affleck is thrilled with the role and the opportunity. He said the new movie will be a very different take on the “Dark Knight” trilogy that made Christian Bale a fan favorite.

“It’s so awesome man, I’m so excited,” he said. ”It’s a very hard thing to describe without giving away the story.”

The Warner Bros. blockbuster is set for release in July 2015.
