Former "Bachelor" contestant Gia Allemand has died, apparently after attempting suicide.

"While in her residency in New Orleans on Monday night, Ms. Allemand was found by her boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson, following an apparent suicide attempt," her family said in a statement.

Anderson called 911 and Allemand, 29, was taken to University Hospital in New Orleans and put on life support, according to the statement.

"Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn today," the statement continued. "Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other life-long friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites."

Allemand, a Maxim model, was best known for appearing on ABC reality shows "The Bachelor" and "Bachelor Pad" in 2010.

The "Bachelor" community has used social media to express an outpouring of emotion over her loss.

Jake Pavelka, the "Bachelor" from Allemand's season tweeted after he found out about her death.

"I had to pull over, I can't stop crying. We have lost an angel," he said.

Jenna Burke, who was a contestant on "The Bachelor" during season 16 also posted about Allemand's death.

"We lost a loved one but heaven gained an angel," she tweeted. "I will miss you sweet Gia Allemand. You will always be in our hearts and thoughts. [Heart] You"

Finally, Sean Lowe, "The Bachelor" from season 17, was focused on Allemand's family.

"My prayers go out to @GiaAllemand 's family during this time," he said. "Life on earth is but a vapor and she's with our Lord now."
