An actor who appeared as one of Steve Carell's co-workers in the movie "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" has been arrested in connection with an attack on his former girlfriend.
Shelley Malil was arrested for investigation of attempted murder and other charges last night, as he got off a train near San Diego.
Sunday night, deputies answering reports of screams for help and breaking glass found a woman with multiple stab wounds and cuts on her face, and no suspect at the scene.
The woman was in critical condition yesterday.
Malil has appeared in dozens of TV shows, including "NYPD Blue" and "Scrubs."
