Steven Hedgers was 27 when he disappeared from a house on Star Street in July, 1986. His wife and infant son were enjoying a vacation in Washington at the time. Hedgers stayed home because the family couldn't afford for him to miss work.

Police say he was last seen at a friend's house on July 25 where he had dinner. After four days of trying to phone him from Washington, Hedger's wife called police on the 29th.

Police found nothing missing from his home, except his wallet, prescription sunglasses and maybe his social security card. They believe those clues mean Hedgers left his house with someone he knew. His keys were left inside and his truck was left in the driveway. There were no signs of a struggle inside.

Detectives wonder why Hedgers' boss didn't call police after four days of not showing up for work.

Police believe Hedgers was murdered. The problem, though, is that his body was never found.

This wasn't the only tragedy that the Hedgers family was dealing with at the time. Shortly before he disappeared, Hedgers first son died of a medical complication. At the time of his disappearance, he worked as a trucker for the now-defunct Alpine Petroleum and El Dorado Crude.

I am glad you are running the story on Steve again, it would be nice to have a closure for the whole family. He was a good father and provider. Even went to school, chose a career in the medical field as a EMT. Again thank you for running this story.

Steven Hedgers was my Uncle, and of course the mother detective young speaks of is my grandmother. I beg anyone who knows anything about my Uncle to please contact the appropriate people. It is hard for me to look at pictures of my uncle because he is the spitting image of my father, and because I missed out on having a great man in my life to lean on and to turn to. He was an Uncle, a father, a son, a brother and he is missed very very much, he was not disposable, regardless of what his killer or killers may have thought he was priceless and a one of a kind. Someone out there knows something even if it is something little....it's still something. We love you Uncle Stevie, you have not been forgotten.

I'm glad you ran the story of Steven Hedgers again. He was a friend of ours. I do have to correct you though. Steve and Paula had a daughter, at least 5 or 6 and their son, who was about 2 was the son that passed away before his disappearance. Those were the only two children they had. It's been a long time, I know things can get mixed up with time. Thank you again for running the story, I hope some day we'll finally learn what happened to him. He was a good person and a good friend.
