A Wichita woman has been arrested and charged with child abuse. Erin Roush, 31, was arrested Monday nearly two months after her newborn baby was hospitalized with a suspicious head injury.
Investigators say Roush told them while she and her boyfriend were fighting she tripped and fell while holding the baby. The baby was hospitalized with a skull fracture.
Police say they issued a warrant for Roush last week. She was arrested without incident.
On Tuesday, Roush was charged with one count of Abuse of a Child. Her bond has been set at $50,000 and her next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 22.

Wichita police are investigating a report of potential child abuse, after a newborn baby was taken to a hospital with a head injury on Sunday. It happened in the 300 block of S. Oak St.
Investigators said a 1-month-old baby was rushed to Via Christi Hospital on North St. Francis with a skull fracture. The child has since been upgraded to good condition.
The mother and boyfriend were arrested on unrelated charges while the investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the baby's mother tells KAKE’s Jared Cerullo she and her boyfriend were having an argument and she tripped and fell while holding the baby in her arms. The baby fell to the floor, she said.
"That baby is very loved," she said. "There's no way... absolutely no way that we would ever hurt the child. I mean, absolutely, that's unfounded."
The mother was arrested for possession of marijuana and bonded out of jail early Monday. The baby's father was booked into jail on an unrelated traffic warrant out of Hesston, but police are holding him with no bond.
