A 38-year-old Kansas woman has been convicted of killing again, this time in Omaha.
On Monday, Carol Wilkins pleaded no contest to charges of manslaughter and using a weapon in killing 45-year-old Brent St. John in September 2008. Her sentencing is set for April.
Prosecutor John Alagaban told the Omaha World-Herald that he cut the charge from first-degree murder because he had concerns about some of the witnesses to events before the slaying at St. John's apartment.
He says the witnesses had been drinking at the same bar as Wilkins and St. John that September night.
In 1992, Wilkins was convicted of voluntary manslaughter after a plea deal with prosecutors in Topeka, Kan. They said she shot to death her 29-year-old boyfriend.
