A bookkeeper for a Wichita law firm is accused of stealing nearly $1 million from her employer.

A federal indictment charges 34-year-old Vicki Olivarez with one count of bank fraud and 10 counts of forging the signature of her boss on Pistotnik Law Offices checks. The indictment was announced Tuesday.

Olivarez is accused of stealing $948,041 from September 2004 until September 2009 by writing checks to herself, her husband and for cash.

If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 on the bank fraud charge and 10 years and a $250,000 fine on each forgery count.
