A northeast Kansas man and his son have been sentenced to prison for providing fake identification documents to workers at a DeSoto manufacturer.

U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said Thursday that 47-year-old Benito M. Dominguez of Olathe was sentenced to four and a half years in federal prison. His son, 22-year-old Jose E. Dominguez, was sentenced to almost two years.

Both pleaded guilty to single counts of aggravated identity theft and making false identification documents.

Investigators said the men had the names and Social Security numbers of 400 people, which they used for bogus Social Security cards and resident alien documents. Eight workers of Engineered Air in DeSoto have been arrested for using fake IDs to get jobs at the plant.
