On Google's "Tip Jar" nearly 7,000 people have submitted over 5,000 money saving tips that worked for them and may work for you.
Now here's the email address: http://moderator.appspot.com/#16/E=3CFC
As you can see, its an odd address and difficult to remember so you will want it book-marked on your browser.
But once you get there the tips are fascinating and some are humorous. Here's a sample.
"Slow down. Enjoy your life. Don't work overtime unless its fun and does not detract from the rest of your life. (Full disclosure - I'm unemployed)".
"Shop at a local store to stock up on fresh foods for an entire week. Making weekly grocery stops ensures avoidance of high-preservative, unhealthy pre-packaged food."
And here are a few for controlling your weight.
"Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, sup like a pauper".
"When feeling hungry for a snack, instead first drink a glass of water. A lot of times that craving for a salty or sweet thing is really just your body telling you that it's dehydrated."
"Park your car in the far reaches of the parking lot. You will have less door dings and the walk will be healthy."
Then when the time comes to make purchases more suggestions:
"Pass your car in the far reaches of the parking lot. You will have less door dings and the walk will be healthy."
"Pass on extended warranties. A $129 two year extension on a $300 product is just not worth it. Warranties are insurance, and we rarely need to insure such a small amount."
"My best tip is never to spend a $5 bill that comes into my possession. And at the end of the month deposit at least $50 into my savings account."
And for just plain 'living' a writer had this tip: "Don't be a social network (****book) junkie. Try to divert that time and energy to do something productive. Try to learn one new thing each day. You will be amazed how many really interesting things there are to learn."
