When times get bad, the first thing many of us cut out is eating out. But there are ways to save money at restaurants too.

Any good restaurant is also a part of the fabric and fiber of the local community. They provide jobs and make our community a better place to live. When we cut down on restaurants, we sometimes cut down on jobs in the area.

There are ways to still eat out but not spend a bundle, and help our local restaurant community at the same time.

  • Restaurant.com: Enter your zip code or city and the site gives you a list of restaurants that offer discounted gift certificates. Unfortunately, there are only three restaurants listed for Wichita and the discounted gift certificates are only good on certain days. Also, sometimes a minimum purchase is required in order for the discount to be valid.

  • Urbanspoon.com: Here, nearly every Wichita restaurant has reviews from patrons. As money gets tight, you want to make sure you have a great dining experience. Customer reviews can certainly help.
