Tonight on Cost Cutters, we hear from our viewers about how to save a few dollars in a tight economy.

Tips from Stephanie:

  • If you go to the grocery stores first thing in the morning you can get reduced/discounted items such as milk or meat.

  • I have a habit of asking the manager in the dairy department if he is going to mark down any milk or juice, especially if I see that there are products going to expire within two to three days.

  • Don't be afraid to buy something just because the package is damaged; the managers would rather mark it down to sell it than take the time to send it back.

    Tips from Jennifer:

  • Instead of buying freezer bags save the bag found in your empty cereal boxes. These bags work perfectly when you need to freeze meat or anything else.

    Another viewer says:

  • I sit down and plan out two weeks’ worth of meals, a menu of sorts. Then I figure out just what I need to make those meals, and that is all I buy!! Then I know what to fix when I get home from work and I've saved money not buying extras."
