For the most part, Wichita residents are happy living in here.

The National Citizen survey sent out questionnaire to 3,000 Wichita residents, 831 responded. Of those, 78 percent said Wichita is an excellent or good place to live and 69 percent call the overall quality of life excellent or good.

However 40 percent responded they are happy with the sidewalk and street maintenance.

The survey showed Wichitans want improvements in blight, streets and police patrol in neighborhoods at night.

The last survey of this type was conducted in 2006.

Robert Layton, City manager, said the surveys help city staff and council members get a pulse of the community, so they can make changes to improve the quality of living in Wichita.
