Victory can be sweet and short lived. Just ask the 638 people who took part in a world record attempt at the Wichita YMCA.

YMCA officials this week learned the 638 were part of a Guinness world record for the largest Zumba class, set on January 1.

While the YMCA successfully set a record on New Year’s Day, another organization has since broken the record with an attempt on April 30, 2011, featuring 1,223 participants.

To celebrate the January record, the Y is inviting Zumba fans to join them tonight 5:30-6:30PM, at the North YMCA (3330 N. Woodlawn) for a Zumba class instructed by Shalen Scheltgen who led the world record-breaking class in January.
