United Way is launching a program that provides free books to preschool children in a move to encourage reading at an early age.
The so-called Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in Sedgwick, Butler and Sumner counties was kicking off Monday. Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer planned to read to children at a preschool classroom in Irving Elementary school in Wichita.
United Way will be the local coordinator of the national program.
